A SEASONED COUNSELOR
I am a psychological associate who counsels, diagnoses, and supports individuals and couples to grow by providing compassionate and non-judgmental therapy centered around the client and their individual needs to feel emotionally safe, heard, and understood. Therapy is an investment of time, energy and money so let’s make sure it is a positive investment for you. I work best with clients that desire to grow and learn new skills. Change will take hard work, development of new skills but hope is ahead. If there is a desire to grow, I would love to work with you to implement evidence-based resources, build healthy skills, and find new ways to help you feel and function better.

COMMITTED TO MINISTRY
My faith is a core foundation of my life and I try to love God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength by living an intentional life for Him. I have been a Christian for over 25 years where I have served God and others in a variety of ways including going on a mission's trip to India that changed the trajectory of my life. In working through my own personal and relational challenges, I felt led to write a book on marriage and mental health called Mental Health Strong in 2019. Through prayer and a variety of experiences, my husband and I co-founded Mental Health Strong, a non-profit to bring hope, resources, and support to marriages with mental health and addiction challenges.

COMMITTED TO FAMILY
I have been married to my husband since 2007. We love each other deeply, feel led by God to be together and yet, have struggled with basic functioning due to unprocessed trauma that triggered undiagnosed mental illnesses spiraling out of control. I remember asking God, "Why did this happen if I was obedient to you?" As I was undercovering this question more with God, additional diagnoses entered our extended family including depression, bipolar, and substance use disorders so it seemed that mental illness was all around me and I had a front row seat to navigating them. In 2010, I burnt out with over-functioning and not understanding the importance of boundaries, self-care, and processing grief. I also didn’t understand the harmful impacts of perfectionism and co-dependency. It led me to seek therapy, learn new skills, and work through my pain to bring tremendous healing and recovery. Now, I believe God is leading me to help others with the help that He has provided me.
“The Lord comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God” (2 Corinthians 1:4). |
